Have you heard about a Stone Massage? If you have never experienced this unique indulgence, you owe yourself this exquisite moment.

You probably walk by them (or step on them, more likely) all the time with out thought, but that may be about to change. Stones are currently in the beauty spotlight, appearing in everything from massage and body treatments to manicures and pedicures and even during a Facials. Stone Therapy has a unique connection we experience with nature, offering a sense of profoundness and sacredness that we too often forget. It's a deep healing and unique moment that enhances our awareness and brings us closer to our true essence. It is the perfect treatment that is as enjoyable and healing for the client as it is for the practitioner.

Stone Therapy features the application of water-heated basalt stones of varying sizes to key points on the body, to penetrate deep into your muscles giving a deep massage and creating sensations of comfort and warmth. The direct heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage. Stones are placed on hand, feet, face, back and other energy centers of the body to help balance and heal. You will experience a profound sense of contentment and relaxation. This unique treatment is truly therapeutic when combined with powerful energy balancing and stimulating essential oils, both warming and cooling, for an absolutely exquisite and unforgettable experience.  Balancing, Restoring, Rejuvenating, and Relaxing the body at it's deepest level.

Using Stones on the body is not a new phenomenon. In fact, the use stones and gemstones for healing purposes date back thousands of years. The Chinese used heated stones more than 2,000 years ago to improve the function of internal organs. Stones were also used for healing work in Africa, Europe, Egypt and India. These traditions include laying stones in patterns on the body, carrying or wearing stones for health and protection, and using stones in the diagnosis and treatment of disease and ceremonial uses. Native America Indians also used stones during rituals and ceremonies and still use them in Sweat Lodges today. Originally Hawaiian Luau lomi-lomi lava rock balls were used to clean or scrape the skin after a lomi-lomi. Stone therapy was reintroduced in Tucson, Arizona in 1994 by a massage therapist, but it has only been 4 years now, that Stone Therapy being incorporated into Spa Services and Treatments.

It is more than just a relaxing Spa experience. Stone therapy increases blood circulation and metabolism and decreases tension and stiffness in the body tissue when stones are heated. When stones are used cold, they stimulate, tighten, and increase muscle tone and also help decrease inflammation and swelling as well.

It is quite an experience to feel the deeply relaxing, penetrating heat from the basalt stones alternating with the toning and refreshing coolness of the marble stones. The use of extremes of temperature has long been scientifically and medically proven to be of benefit to the body. Those who wish to relax and tone their muscles with a minimum of effort see this in the use of ice packs for muscle trauma and the use of saunas.

Stone massage makes you feel deeply relaxed, allowing you to let go of all the stress that is held within your body. It is really an amazing experience to offer to the ones you love!

This healing crisis means a positive result of the treatment as massage makes all body systems to function more efficiently, speed up waste removal and the elimination of toxins as well as getting rid of negative deep--held emotions.

With regular treatments and as a body starts to heal and rebalance these after-effects will subdue.

The possible adverse reactions you may experience are absolutely normal and will subside with in 12 hours.

Typical adverse reactions may include:

Tiredness - due to release of toxins encouraged by the treatments and the initiation of healing energies, which require the body rest.

Muscular ache and/or headaches - the nerve fibers responding to the deep work undertaken

Heightened emotional state - due to the positive release of deep-held feelings and emotions

Frequent urination - due to stimulation of the lymphatic system
